My research here is focused on genome evolution from the perspective of animals in the Cnidarian phylum (sea anemones, jellyfish, corals, and the like). Major research themes include:
- the origin and evolution of new transcripts and gene regulatory functions
- evolution of genome content via horizontal transfer
- development of computational tools to analyze genomes and transcriptomes
Prior to working at the University of Vienna, I did a postdoc in Boris Lenhard’s lab while he was at SARS/Unifob in Bergen. I earned a doctorate in Functional Genomics from the Karolinska Institute, and an M.Sc. in Engineering Biology from Umeå University.
